How to Use

Here are a few randomly generated sets of instructions for using matcha powder, ranging from the traditional to the creative.

1. The “Zen Master” (Traditional Tea)

Best for: When you need focus without the coffee jitters.

  • Step 1: Place a fine-mesh sieve over a small bowl.

  • Step 2: Sift 1 teaspoon of matcha powder into the bowl to remove lumps.

  • Step 3: Pour in 2 oz (60ml) of hot water (approx. 175°F/80°C—not boiling!).

  • Step 4: Using a bamboo whisk (chasen), whisk the tea vigorously in a zigzag “W” or “M” motion, not a circular one.

  • Step 5: Stop when a thick layer of froth forms on top. Sip immediately.
